Dear Parent

As our students stand on the threshold of making the first choice related to their professional lives, it becomes imperative on part of parents and school to help them make informed choices. The world today has gone far beyond the clichéd professions and the students are ready to explore exciting options for themselves. At this point, awareness regarding career paths, choice of subjects/stream and aptitude is of primary importance.

Keeping this in mind, the school is organizing an exclusive session on “Choice of Streams and Careers” on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 for students of Classes IX and X and their parents from 8:00 am-9:00 am in the School auditorium.

The session will be devoted to understanding the following points;

  • Importance of choosing the right stream
  • Role of parents in the stream selection
  • Career prospects of each stream
  • Conventional and Modern Careers
  • Planning a Career
  • What’s the latest that the industry has to offer as ‘out of the box’ career choices

We would appreciate your presence during the session to help your ward take this crucial decision which will chart his professional growth in the future. Kindly send the dully filled consent latest by Monday, 21 October 2019.

There will also be a Career Assessment by Extramarks in case you would like to enrol your ward for the same.

Dear Parent

Our students, as part of their curriculum, are studying about the heritage sites and monuments built during Mughal era. The Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world has stood the test of time by standing tall and graceful and telling its story to generations that throng to see its beauty. Agra Fort also stands testimony to the functioning of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638.

It has been our endeavour to provide our students with the finest experiential learning opportunities and to provide them a first hand experience of these monuments, the school is organizing a day long trip to Agra on 01 October 2019.

Participation fee for the trip is ₹1900/- which includes travel by comfortable luxury buses, all meals and entry tickets to the monuments, travel insurance and charges for professional guides.

If you are interested in sending your ward for this experiential learning trip, kindly send the participation fee along with the consent latest by 18 September 2019. A detailed itinerary will be shared once you register for the programme.

Dear Parent

As an experiential learning exercise, the school proposes to take the students of Classes IX and X to watch the play DANDI being staged on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 during school timings. The play is being staged by History Diaries, co-founded by IIT Delhi alumni. 'History Diaries' is an initiative to bring history alive and to transform the way it is taught in the classrooms. The times, incidences, and the lives of people in history are recreated through various creative techniques such as theater and historical discussions among others. With the students having studied Nationalist Movement in India as part of their curriculum, it will be an enriching experience seeing parts of it being presented before the students.

The registration fee for watching the show is ₹175/-. If you are interested in your ward participating in the programme, kindly send the duly filled consent form and the registration fee to the Class teacher latest by Thursday, 12 September 2019.

Dear Parent

The characterization of adolescence as a time of “storm and stress” remains an open debate. Intense and frequent negative influences during this period have been hypothesized to explain the increased rates of affective disorders behavioral issues, suicide, and accidental deaths during this time of life. Yet some teens emerge from adolescence with minimal turmoil.

The school had organized a session for parents on ‘Understanding why Adolescent behave the way they do’ on Saturday, 03 August 2019. We had an overwhelming response from parents and the feedback has prompted us to organize the session once again on Saturday, 31 August 2019 at 9:00 am in the School Auditorium. This workshop aims to apprise the parents about the problems students might go through and the various ways to deal with them. It provides an opportunity to gain evidence-based knowledge, receive awareness and support. The topics that will be addressed in this session are:

  • · Decision making · Substance abuse · Sexuality Education

We request you to be seated in the school auditorium by 8:45 am and keep your mobile phones in silent mode. Please fill up the duly filled consent and send it to the class teacher on 29 August 2019.

Dear Parent

Adolescence is the phase of transition from childhood to adulthood and this phase brings in noticeable behavioural changes in children. Psychosocial disorders are more common during adolescence than during childhood, and many unhealthy behaviours begin during adolescence causing disruptive behaviour which may get escalated to bigger issues during adult life. Having an eating disorder, poor diet, obesity, smoking, using drugs, and violent behaviour can lead to acute health problems, chronic disorders, or morbidity later in life. Pressure from peer group becomes a gnawing issue for the parents to handle. Adolescent students who lack strong social skills often struggle to stay afloat and may resort to extreme behaviours.

It becomes imperative for the parents to know skill sets to equip them to handle their children who are at a delicate juncture of their lives. Therefore the school is organising a workshop on 3 August 2019 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am on the topic ‘Understanding Adolescents’. This workshop aims to apprise the parents about the problems students might go through and the various ways to deal with them. • The exchange focuses on building knowledge about politics, diplomacy, governance, education, arts and culture of the visiting country by setting up meetings with the Government officials in both the nations, visits to the State Assembly (in Malaysia) and to the Parliament (in Singapore), visit a school for peer-to-peer engagement, visit a University in Singapore.
  • 6-8 International certificate and award of recognition for all the participants endorsed by host government/agencies.
  • Recognition and Interaction from Commonwealth Youth Council & Commonwealth Students Association (Voice of Youth from 53 countries and 1.2 billion young people), Commonwealth Youth Sports for Development and Peace Network.

Dear Parent

Adolescence is a phase when the body is on an overdrive in terms of hormonal changes. In this age of information technology, students have access to information on a click of a button but they do not have the skills to sift the information and understand it in the right context. This has resulted in them misinterpreting most of the information available online, which in the long run affects them mentally and emotionally. To help students cope with the changes pertaining to their physical, social and emotional well being, as well as changes in their immediate environment, various workshops are organized for students. One such session is on sexuality education, for students of Classes VI, VIII & XI in the month of July.

As a continuation, we believe that parents are potentially an important source of information and support to their children on sexual issues, but in practice many parents feel that they lack the skills and confidence to play a direct role in these matters. Keeping this in mind, the school is organising a sexuality education workshop for parents of Classes VI to VIII on Saturday, 20th July 2019 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. The focus of the workshop will be to apprise parents of the effects of changing physical appearance on the psychology of the child; and will help them engage in a comfortable discussion with their ward on sexuality related issues. Trained professionals from the field of social work, who have done similar sessions for students too, will conduct the workshop. If you are interested in attending this session, please send the consent slip latest by Tuesday, 16 July 2019. Kindly do not bring your children for the workshop as the workshop is an endeavor towards parents’ orientation on issues related to sexuality.

Dear Parent

As we look forward to the long awaited summer vacation, it is the time of the year when lots of plans are made and there is excitement in the air. In our busy schedules, this period looks like a time for bonhomie- trips are planned, a long overdue stay at grand parents' place is worked out, extended families meet, etc.

Some things that your wards can indulge in, apart from the ones that you have already chalked out, are: seeing the Sun in all its glory at sunrise, refreshing morning walks, playing in the open with friends which may mean sweating out a bit, cultivating a long cherished hobby, going on cycling expedition with you, watching the IPL matches together or anything else that was in suspended animation due to your ward's preoccupation with School.

We advise that you take your ward to an old age home, make him/her plant saplings in the neighbourhood & nurture the young plants, bond with the helpers' children, engage in teaching them or simply help you in doing household chores. Every activity will be a learning for them – learning beyond the class room. Do train your students to record evidences of the good deeds that they do. A good portfolio can boast of the same.

For learning what the School teaches, we attach the Holiday activities that have been devised by the teachers to provide an opportunity to hone their creativity and go wild with their imagination.

Let the students do the vacation home activities as a pleasure and not a burden. Your guidance will be of immense help. Chart their routine and let them work on a regular basis, instead of being in a rush to complete it in the last few days before the vacation ends.

The summer vacation for your ward starts from Monday, 13 May 2019 and the school will reopen on Tuesday, 02 July 2019.

The School wishes this period to be a time for relaxation, enjoyment and camaraderie.

Wishing you and your ward a very fruitful vacation ahead!

Dear Parent

The school is organizing a 4-days, 3-nights adventure camp for classes VI to VIII to Camp Anubhav, Chail, Himachal Pradesh from 18- 22 May 2019. Supervised by educationists and professional instructors, the programme is specially designed for young minds to help them experience a ‘new freedom’ in the lap of nature.

Camp Anubhav is an experiential learning holiday for school students. Just as nature keeps us grounded, obstacles make us perseverant and adventure makes us tough. Each day at the camp is customized to bring out different aspects of a child’s personality and hone them. Dear Parent

It is a recognized fact that parenting today has become extremely challenging. Gone are the days when the parents’ words were accepted without being dissected and questioned at every juncture. So when we have taught our children to learn to question, why has it become difficult to accept their questions? Parenting is an art and to master that art, we look for inputs from other people’s experiences and expert advice.

In a unique endeavor to acquaint you with some prerequisites of parenting, Tagore International School, East of Kailash is hosting noted educational psychologist Dr V.S.Ravindran for a workshop on Positive parenting. We envisage equipping you with skills needed to deal with young teenagers at home and in school with the expert guidance of Dr Ravindran.

We extend a cordial invitation to you to attend the Workshop on Sunday, 21 April 2019 in the School Auditorium from 10:00 am to 12’00 noon. In his inimitable style and through his anecdotal references, Dr. Ravindran is sure to reach out to you and take your many queries regarding parenting tips head on.

Kindly make it convenient to attend the workshop and avail this unique opportunity of interacting with Dr. Ravindran.  If you are interested in attending the workshop, kindly collect your passes from the school reception till Tuesday, 16 April 2019 between 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Your ward may also collect the passes on your behalf after submitting a request letter.

Looking forward to your presence.

Dear Parent

Each student in Class VI is required to study THREE languages viz. English, Hindi and Sanskrit / French / German. English is the first language which each student HAS to study.  All INDIANS will study Hindi compulsorily.  Nationals of other countries will be exempted from studying Hindi as a second language.  The school offers French, Sanskrit and German as options for the third language.  All students have to opt for ONE of the three i.e. French, Sanskrit or German.  They have to be certain of their choice as they will have to study the same language from Classes VI to VIII and no change at a later date or class will be possible.  It is mandatory to pass in the third language in order to be eligible for promotion to the next class.

To be eligible to study French/German in the middle school, the student has to score a minimum of A2 in each area of English assessment and minimum A1 in conversation and text in ALL THREE TERMS in Class V. The final decision, however, will rest with the English language teacher and the Principal.

In Classes IX and X, the school follows the two language formula, as per the guidelines issued by CBSE. English is compulsory and the second language will be based on the language studied in Classes VI-VIII. Kindly fill the consent form and submit it to the Class Teacher latest by Friday, 12 April 2019.

Being creative gives us opportunities to try out new ideas and new ways of thinking and problem-solving. Creative activities help us acknowledge and celebrate our own uniqueness and diversity. Creativity encourages self-expression -  a way to create something from personal feelings and experiences.

To develop the various facets of their personality, the scholastic curricula must be supplemented with co – scholastic activities. Keeping this in mind the school offers a number of co-curricular activities in school. Each student has to opt for ONE PERFORMING ART, which the student will be a part of, for the next two years. Dear Parent

Safety and security of the children has always been the prime concern of our institution.  We have always endeavored to provide your ward with a secure environment in the school. This is, however, not possible without your cooperation.  We would like to remind you of a few points regarding the safety of your ward while commuting to and from school.

1. If your ward is travelling  by a private van, please ensure the following:
  1. The van is well maintained and the fuel used is CNG and NOT LPG.
  2. The van drivers must be police verified, must have a proper license and is an experienced driver.
  3. Overcrowded vans are a threat to your ward’s safety, so as far as possible, keep a check on the number of children travelling in the van.
  4. You should also ensure that you have the telephone number and other contact details of the owner, driver of the van and the details of the route covered by the van.
2. In case your ward travels by private transport, please fill in the undertaking given below and send it back to the class teacher latest by Friday, 05 April 2019.
3. We appreciate that in response to our previous reminders, a large number of parents now park their cars away from the school and encourage their wards to walk to the school gate. However, there are still many who insist on parking in front of the gates. We would like to reiterate that the main gates are the area from where majority of the students enter and disperse and thus it is necessary that the approach to these gates be kept free and open, for the safety of students.
4. The area around the school is a NO HONKING zone. We request you to refrain from blowing the horn in the vicinity of the school.
5. You are requested to send the following documents of the van travels to the school along with the consent form latest by Wednesday, 10 April 2019.
a) Registration card of the vehicle b) Permit to run as a cab  c) Pollution Certificate  d) Insurance of the vehicle
e) Fitness Certificate f) License of the driver   g) Identity Card  h) Police Verification
