Students of classes VI -VIII who have opted for Public Speaking are an enthusiastic and vocal group. The initial stages look at the importance of public speaking and seek to emphasise interactive skills. Apart from practising the art of speaking confidently, they also practise researching information from various sources and putting that together to create a write-up. Speaking skills are practiced in a variety of ways: through debates, short skits, speeches and story-telling. Peers are encouraged to listen and provide useful feedback, so that they also develop active listening skills. The aim is to endow students with confidence, clarity and fluency of speech.
