Sports is not just about enjoyment, or about winning. Sports makes our life interesting, ignites our souls, creates deep friendships, stimulates our intellect and kindles our desire to push ourselves to our limits. This passion for sports in our students is observed on the Senior Athletic Meet every year, where the four houses compete against each other in various events to win the Sports Cup.
This year we were privileged to have Mr. Dinesh Kumar gracing the Annual Senior Athletic Meet 2019 as the Chief Guest.
Mr. Dinesh Kumar, an Indian professional Kabaddi player who during his illustrious career has brought laurels to the country through his focus and dedication. He was the Captain of the Indian national kabaddi team that won Asiad gold medals in 2002 and 2006. In 2010, the Government of India conferred the Arjuna Award upon him for his achievements in the sport.
The Chief Guest, during his address to the students, exhorted them to respect their elders, focus not only on academics but on all-round personality development as well. He also elucidated on the importance of sports in our lives which while making us competitive, motivates us to imbibe a sense of fair play and sportsmanship. The sports day witnessed keen participation by all the houses wherein each house put their best foot forward. The participants were zealously cheered by their house members to pep up their morale. The goalposts were creatively decorated to make the ambience merry. The competition ended with Shanti house being adjudged the winner with razor thin margin. The day culminated with the prize distribution ceremony bringing down curtains on an exciting day.
