School bagged awards in the ITIHAAS Anveshan 2016

Anveshan is an annual heritage based music event organized by ‘ITIHAAS – Indian Traditions and Heritage Society, with an aim to encourage young students to endeavour, explore and experience their local heritage. It provides the school children a unique opportunity to venture out, collect stories, lore and legends linked to their local culture, traditions and historic landmarks and weave them together into a melodious song.

Students of classes IX – XII (representing our school in the UDGAAR category) emerged the Winners in the Music category on 04 October 2016.

Post an extensive research carried out on the basis of their experiences, observations and interaction with the people behind the real sounds, our budding lyricist Viraj Agashe was handed out the responsibility to write a song while a creative documentation of the project was being done simultaneously by Meghna Bhuyan and Vanshika Kathuria.

The song was then set to tune by the team and performed with some very innovative instruments and sources of authentic Delhi sounds (like empty glass bottles, cycle bells and bucket beats, etc.) in front of a jury of eminent personalities first at a competitive preliminary round and later at an even more exhausting final round held at the zonal and national levels respectively. Our school team was given a tough fight by a large number of schools both from Delhi as well as the rest of India.

Drawing a lot of applause and leaving behind a mesmerized audience, a group of 21 talented musicians finally emerged the Winners in the Music category.
