Marking 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore International School, East of Kailash, Delhi paid tribute to the father of the nation by inaugurating the yearlong celebration by organising a Special Assembly on 14 October 2019 which included Bhajans, tribute dance on ‘De di Hame Azaadi …’, Speech on Gandhiji’s life and work, sharing of thoughts and quotes he preached.
As part of the celebration, the Gandhiji’s quote of the month was, “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it all in the beginning.”
This was followed by dedicating a segment of the TAGFEST 2019 to Gandhiji and his ideals.
Various activities for the students of classes VI- VIII were organised to enable them to know, understand and imbibe the teachings and values believed by Gandhiji.
Students of classes VI worked together in groups and made posters on three monkeys, thereby preaching and promoting their associations of being good in speech, mind and action.
Students of classes VII, together with their classmates, worked in groups and made their depiction of Gandhiji. The students came out with flying colours and wonderfully depicted Gandhiji through his glasses, caricatures, puppets, drawing and sketches. The symbolical representation gave a new dimension to the way students perceive the Mahatma.
Students of Class VIII used recycled material to make a Charkha. Students used innovative technologies such as motors, electric wires to make working/moving charkhas which amalgamated the tradition with innovation.
Moreover, students of classes IX and XII visited Gandhi Museum and Rajghat, respectively to imbibe the teachings of Gandhiji and learn more about him.
