Aashaiyein – World Dance Day Competition 2020 |
Tagore International School, East of Kailash celebrated International Dance Day with enthusiasm with the students sending in their videos of performances maintaining the protocols of the lockdown. The school had invited students from Classes I to XII to send in their entries in Vocal, Instrumental Music and Dance. The teachers received an overwhelming response and shortlisted the best performances to be showcased on the school website.
Dance teacher , Ms Chameli Debnath explained the relevance of celebrating International Dance Day in her unique style and students also expressed their views on why they dance. Dance is an expression of emotions that we feel and the videos uploaded on the website are a testimony to the joy that our students feel even in these trying times.

Live tutorials on dance forms on the virtual platform were organized for the students of Classes I to XII to celebrate International Dance Day on the 29th of April with camaraderie and fun.
Experts from different fields of dance were invited to connect with the students and teach them some skills. For Classes IX to XII actor, choreographer and an ace dancer Anubhav Nanda was invited and the students enjoyed grooving to a popular Bollywood dance number after learning the steps from him.
For Classes VI to VIII, Neha Sharma a noted dancer, Assistant Director of Sadhya, a renowned dance school in Delhi taught contemporary dance form to students who then performed with her on the popular song Dance Monkey.
For the Primary classes, Kanai and Yashika tutored the students on some basic dance steps.
The school with the thought of spreading happiness and to not let the lockdown make the students feel lonely and forlorn, took this initiative to reach out to as many students as possible. With nearly 500 students joining the sessions, it was indeed heartening to note that "Dance is the hidden language of the soul.”
