YOUTH ACTIVATION REPORT

Special Olympics empowers young people to lead the drive to change the social norms, bring about a change in outlook and mindsets needed to create a society of acceptance, appreciation, and inclusion for people with different learning abilities. The Youth are educated to use sports and educational programmes to foster respect for people with intellectual disabilities in schools and Colleges. The programme activates young people to develop school communities which can act as agents of change, fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities.

Roshni Society, an initiative by the students of Tagore International School, East of Kailash,  has been working with Special Olympics Bharat and organizing various events throughout the year with Ananth Center. To strengthen this collaboration, on 18th January 2022 , Special Olympics Bharat organized a Youth Activation session with Tagore International School and Ananth Center. The programme began with a short introductory video about Special Olympics and what they do followed by a short discussion on the difference between students with and without intellectual disabilities. With The help of a small activity the youth leaders from special olympics explained the meaning of Inclusion. Students who have been a part of the special olympics shared their experience on how it feels to be a part of special olympics and special olympics games held at an international level.

A briefing session on ‘Unified Champion schools’ and  ‘Youth Activation committee’ was done. We were guided as to how to become a unified champion school with Ananth Center. The session came to an end when the Regional Sports head of north zone - Special Olympics Bharat and also Special Olympics Bharat Delhi incharge, Ms. Ekta, asked us to organize a Unified Sports day with Ananth Center involving the whole school with the objective of  promoting inclusion.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

School celebrated National Sports Day  with the students of Ananth centre giving tribute to the late hockey legend Major Dhyanchand on  27 August 2021. The programme started with a short video giving tribute to all the athletes from our school and The winners at the Tokyo Olympics who have made our nation proud . A video made by the students from Roshni Society doing various exercises was shown . With the help of Surender Sir ,the sports teacher at Ananth centre we received a lot of videos of students showing their basketball dribbling skills . The brilliant work done by the students was showcased. Students from both Ananth Centre and Tagore International School showed their throwing and catching skills .  A video made by the students of Aaina theatre society was also presented.  The session was very fun and interactive . Students from Ananth Centre were very enthusiastic in sharing their views on the importance of national sports day and why sports are important in our everyday lives . The event was a great success .

Virtual Sports Day
Michael Jordan has rightly said, “Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just illusions” With the world amid the COVID-19 pandemic Tagore International School, East of Kailash organized the Virtual Sports Day. Mr. Dharmendar Singh Yadav, former Indian Boxing Champion with an unbeaten record of 6 wins together was invited to motivate the students.
The event commenced with the sacred flame, symbolizing the endeavor protection and the struggle for victory where a glimpse of the student’s glorious achievements was shown. Adjusting to the new normal the track events were replaced by the challenges that could be pulled off virtually. Preliminary rounds for classes VI-XII were organized where each house was allotted a day and they performed their respective challenges. The challenges were Jack planks, Jump squats, Shoulder tap Pushups, Mountain Climbers, and Toss clap and catch.
In the CHEERiossss: ONE TEAM ONE DREAM challenge, each house recorded cheerleading to motivate their house participants. Various students showcased their juggling and balancing skills with the football in the Glide It animation. Students of classes VI-VII also performed yoga, aerobics, and taekwondo. A mascot challenge was held where students from IX-XII designed a mascot for their respective houses.
Our teachers have always been our role models. Challenges of teachers and support staff were also shown which motivated the students to stay fit and healthy at home as well. Last but not least an animation by the AAINA theatre society was shown which depicted how we forget the accomplishments of our sports stars and deprive them of their deserved rewards and leave them struggling to earn their livelihood. Our chief guest, Dharmendar Singh Yadav sir shared his journey and hardships with the students and spoke encouraging words that motivated the students.
The event ended with the house results and the vote of thanks by HOD of sports department Vijay Sir.

Senior Athletic Meet 2019

Annual Sports Meet at Tagore International School, East Of Kailash

The school organised its Senior Athletic Meet on 11 December 2019 with great enthusiasm and zest. The meet commenced with the igniting of the sacred flame by the Chief Guest, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee, Mr. Zafar Iqbal, the ‘Gentleman of Hockey’. The event witnessed a huge turn up of an appreciative audience of students, teachers and staff members. The students of four houses marched confidently in their bold-hued outfits and pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. The oath was administered by the Chief Guest who also declared the meet open.

The sporting competitions for the day included various track and field events for students of classes VI to XII. The athletes from the four houses exceeded the expectations of all as they sprinted their way on the track. All participants portrayed immense strength, stamina and the will to succeed. Students, along with teachers cheered for the athletes of their houses. The teachers and support staff of the school also participated in the flat race. The main attraction of the day was the Tug-of- War competition between the students of classes XI and XII. The event came to a close with the winners being awarded with medals amidst loud cheers.
