An interactive session as part of a Virtual exchange between students of Tagore International School, New Delhi, India and Meikei School, Japan Nov 2020

A virtual exchange interactive session between students of Tagore International School, New Delhi, India and Meikei School, Japan was conducted today. The topic for the session was ‘Why sky is blue?’ which was discussed in relation to the present Covid-19 pandemic situation. Related topics like the colour of sky, how pollution affected the sky and how it has improved during this pandemic due to various human activity restrictions were also discussed. Students from both the schools made wonderful and informative presentations on these topics.
The topic was divided into three sub-topics -Colour of Sky (as perceived especially in Metro cities, rural areas and hilly terrain) in four seasons, Air Pollution & Environment – how pollution affected the sky and how it has improved during this pandemic due to various human activity restrictions and Solutions for correcting air pollution situations after the pandemic is over. Emphasizing on one to one interaction, students from both the schools formed groups of 4-5 each, exchanging their presentations and discussing one topic each in a separate link created. An interactive question and answer session was followed after these presentations where students shared their perception of colour of sky in different places and season, air pollution and how situation has improved during the pandemic and the measures taken to control air pollution in their respective countries. Post this exchange, all the participants once again joined together and shared their experience followed by informal conversations discussing Diwali and Children’s Day celebrations in India.
A video demonstrating how to make a pollution catcher by students of Tagore International School was also shared which was much appreciated by our Japanese counterpart. A Padlet page was created wherein the students posted their feedback from this session.
