‘Crusaders of the Earth’- Conservation Ideation Competition for the students of Class I - February 2021

The presence of natural resources on Earth is essential for maintaining the environmental balance. However, we do not think twice before utilizing them. It is very important to understand the significance of natural resources and the need to conserve them for future use. If we do not take serious measures to conserve them, then it will become almost impossible for us to live on Earth. In order to inculcate an attitude of preserving nature’s gifts in our students, ‘Crusaders of the Earth’ an intra- class ‘conservation ideation’ competition was held on 24th February 2021.  This competition was open to all; however, participation was optional. Students participated enthusiastically and showcased different practices that they carry out in and around their homes to save our resources through the recorded videos. They used various props like posters, models, charts, cloth bags etc. to present their innovative ideas. They also show cased the good practices that they follow to make the Earth a better place to live. It was heartwarming to see their contribution towards conservation of our natural assets, spreading awareness and pledging to make our planet a lovely place to live!

Students were judged on the basis of content, creativity, clarity, confidence and overall presentation.

‘Hands on Science’ an Intra- class acting competition-Class II-February 2021

‘Hands-on-Science’ an Intra- class science competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of February 2021. The topic on which the students were to record a video was of a science experiment related to day to day life. Students enthusiastically participated in large numbers. Two-minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. Students used objects/things that are easily available at home. They not only demonstrated the procedure but also explained the principle behind it. The experiments were conducted strictly under adult supervision. The competition showcased interesting presentations and variety of talent.

‘Hands-on-Science’ an Intra- class competition-Class III-February 2021

Research has shown that the study of science helps to develop the brain’s ability to think rational and critically. To instill a scientific temperament in our students, we organized ‘Hands – on -Science’, an Intra-class competition based on Science concepts. Each participant selected a simple age appropriate science experiment related to day to day life and explained it’s procedure simultaneously.

‘Eco Rapping’ an Intra- class competition-Class IV-February 2021

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. Good music soothes the soul. A good performer enthralls the audience with the power of the sound.  And these little crooners of class IV enthusiastically participated in Eco Rapping on the theme “Save the environment” and mesmerized us with their beat tapping performance. Some say rapping is the best form of expression. Choice of words, rhythm or sheer passion we saw in all the performers. In their song, the children call attention to problems of environmental pollution and want us to respect Mother Earth. The competition was open to all, however participation was optional. The criteria for judgment were content & relevance, delivery and overall presentation.  It was heart-warming to see their amazing performances.

‘Scinnovation’ an Intra- class scientific tool-making competition-Class V-February 2021 

Due to the population explosion, the generation of waste is increasing day by day which makes it imperative to introduce waste management in society. Keeping the same in mind the students of class V participated in ‘Scinnovation’ an intra-class scientific tool-making competition. Using their scientific skills and the concepts done in the class or learned otherwise, students had to make a simple instrument that could simplify the household chores. Each student came up with an astounding idea and unique designs for their inventions, promoting effective waste management through recycling.

'Computer Prowess'- Intraclass tech competition for the students of classes I to V - January 2021
Computer literacy is one of the most important skills of the 21st century. Computer programming, coding, robotics etc. provide ideal platforms which helps in learning through experimentation and play. ‘Computer Prowess’ an intra-class tech competition was organised in the month of January 2021 for the students of classes [ I to V ], to provide an opportunity to display designing and programming skills. 
Students of class I had to create the “Book Covers” using tools of Ms-Paint on the topic “ My Favourite Story”. Students designed beautiful book covers like The Gingerbread Man, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs etc. 
Students of class II had to design an e-poster on the topic “I Love Books” using OO04 Kids Writer. Students used their creativity and imagination in designing posters using tools of OO04Kids Writer.
Students of Class III had to design a Single Player game using SCRATCH Game Designing Software on the topic “ Save the Aquatic Animals”. They had to give a message of saving aquatic animals from oil spills and garbage through their game. The students have made very interesting games, reflecting their compassion to save aquatic life from pollution.
Students of class IV had to create a presentation on the topic ‘My School-The New Beginning after the Pandemic’. The students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their creative talent. 
Students of class V had to create a Single Player/ Two Player game  on the topic ‘Trees- Our Lifeline’ using Kodu Game Lab or Scratch 3.0 Game Designing Software. 
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. The judgement criteria was creativity, software utilization , relevance to the topic  and overall presentation. The judges were left spellbound by the imagination and creativity of the students.

‘Rang-e-Rangoli’ an Intra-class Rangoli Making Competition - Class V - December 2020

Rangoli is a traditional form that brightens up an occasion and is believed to be a harbinger of good luck. Beautiful patterns are created on the floor using coloured rice, diyas, flowers, grains, sand, paints and colours. In order to develop skills of aesthetics, shapes, symmetry, creativity and innovation among the students.  Mathematics expresses values that reflect the cosmos including orderliness, balance, harmony, logic and abstract beauty. Keeping these thoughts in mind, ‘Rang-e-Rangoli’, an Intra-class mathematical rangoli making competition was organised in the month of December.
 The students put up their artistic acumen on display. The colourful and vibrant rangolis presented a picture of festivity and gaiety. Each rangoli was unique in its own way and the judge was in a dilemma to choose the ones that were better than the best. Innovation and creation are the words that best describe their efforts.

'Jewel-o-metry'- Jewellery Designing Competition was organised for the students of Class IV- December 2020
Jewellery is one of the oldest forms of adornment. Designing jewellery involves creating something beautiful and useful, keeping symmetry, patterns and shapes in mind. To bring out the inner artist in the students, ‘Jewel-o-metry’, an intra- class jewelry making competition was organised for students of Class IV.
The competition was open to all, however participation was optional. The criteria for judgement were Creativity, Neatness & Presentation and Mathematical concepts used.
The students participated enthusiastically and designed & created their own paper bead neck-piece/ necklace applying the concepts of pattern, symmetry and geometry.

‘Budding Designer’ an Intra-class Design Competition - Class III - December 2020

Mathematics is a subject that requires precise thinking. When this skill is combined with application and creativity, the subject comes alive for learners. With this in mind, we organized ‘Budding designer’, an Intra-class design competition based on mathematical concepts. Each participant designed a board game using the mathematical concepts. The judgement criteria were based on originality and concept, innovation and creativity and overall presentation. The students demonstrated their math finesse and creativity with great enthusiasm.

‘Amazing Moments’ an Intra-class Acting Competition - Class II - December 2020

‘Amazing Moments’ an Intra- class acting competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of December 2020. The participants had to make a video enacting any amazing moment from her/ his very own lockdown diary.
Students enthusiastically participated in large numbers. Two-minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. They not only spoke confidently on the given topic but also prepared props to creatively present themselves. They spoke about and enacted scenes of how they helped their parents during lockdown. Some enthusiastic parents also acted along with their child in these videos. A catchy name was given to the act.  Relevant props and costumes, easily available at home were used. The competition showcased interesting presentations and a variety of talent.

‘Poesy’ an Intra-class Poetry Recitation Competition was held in the month of December 2020

To encourage and showcase the speaking skills of the students, ‘Poesy’ an Intra-class Poetry Recitation Competition was held in the month of December. Students from all the sections participated enthusiastically and recited poems on themes like friendship, beautiful world, my favourite colour, animal or person. The participants not only recited the poems confidently but also used appropriate props aesthetically. The props used were indoor plants, innovative costumes, decorative pieces, technology to name just a few.

अंतर विभागीय 'हास्य कविता प्रतियोगिता' - कक्षा  पाँचवी - नवम्बर २०२०

जीवन का बहुमूल्य रस है हास्य, हास्य को सुनकर  मानव को आनंद की प्राप्ति होती है । वह अपनी सारी परेशानियों को भूल जाता है । जीवन में खुशियाँ लाने ,सभी को मनोरंजन प्रदान करने हेतु अंतर विभागीय हास्य कविता प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया था । इस प्रतियोगिता में छात्रों ने बहुत उत्साहित होकर भाग लिया । छात्रों को स्वरचित कविता का निर्माण कर अपनी दो मिनट की  विडियो बना कर अध्यापिका को ३० नवम्बर २०२० तक जमा करवानी थी ।इस प्रतियोगिता में छात्र रंगमंच की सामग्री का प्रयोग कर सकते थे । परिणाम हेतु अनुतान वितान, भाषा शैली ,सृजनात्मकता एवं सम्पूर्ण प्रस्तुति को देखा गया ।छात्रों ने कविता निर्माण किया साथ ही साथ आत्मविश्वास के साथ खुद का एक विडियों बनाया।जो कि आनंद प्रदान करने वाला था ।

“एक कहानी, कठपुतली की ज़ुबानी” प्रतियोगिता -कक्षा-चौथी -नवम्बर २०२०
कक्षा चौथी के विद्यार्थियों ने अंतर विभागीय प्रतियोगिता में “एक कहानी, कठपुतली की ज़ुबानी” के तहत बड़े उत्साह के साथ अपनी पसंदीदा कहानी  का चयन जातक कथाओं एवं पंचतंत्र की कहानियों से किया | छात्रों ने अपनी प्रस्तुति को मज़ेदार और खुबसूरत  बनाने के लिए उत्तम ऊँगली तकनीक का साहारा लेते हुए अपनी प्रस्तुति  को सुंदर बनाया | कई छात्रों ने अपनी कहानी प्रस्तुत करते समय संगीत का भी उपयोग  किया |  हर कहानी में एक सीख छिपी हुई थी | जिसका छात्रों  द्वारा विशेष रूप से उल्लेख किया गया | विद्यार्थियों द्वारा बनाई गयीं कठपुतलियाँ कहानी को और भी रोचक बना रही थीं | छात्रों ने अपनी प्रतियोगिता में लगन और मेहनत से हिस्सेदारी की |छात्रों द्वारा प्रयोग में लाई गयीं कठपुतलियाँ रंग-बिरंगी थीं, जिन्होंने  देखने वालों का मन मोह लिया |

‘Jingle e’ Tourism’ an Intra-class jingle writing competition was organized for class III - November 2020

To generate curiosity about the beauty and diversity of our country, ‘Jingle e’ Tourism’, an Intra-class jingle writing competition was held in the month of November. Each participant selected a state or union territory of her/ his choice from India and wrote a jingle that promoted its culture and highlighted the special features.  Appropriate costumes, props, recorded music and musical instruments were used to make the video more interesting. The students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their creative talent.

‘Shape ‘O’ Mania’ an intra-class competition was organized for Class II - November 2020

‘Shape ‘o’ Mania’ an intra class competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of November 2020.  The competition was open to all, however, participation was optional. The theme on which the students took part was ‘Shapes’.

Students presented shapes in very innovative combinations and enthusiastically participated in the large numbers. Two minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. They not only used their imagination in creating different shapes but also spoke confidently on the given topic  as per the theme which proved how skilled and capable they were while exploring their imagination.

‘Ad- Matazz’ an intra-class Ad Making competition was organized for Class I - November 2020 

The intra class Ad Making competition ‘Ad- Matazz’ was conducted in the month of November. The students made creative and humorous advertisements on different objects from their bags like lunch boxes, hand sanitizer etc. The video presentations showcased their creativity, confidence, enthusiasm, language and acting skills. The judgement criteria for the competition were concept/ content, originality and creativity, humour and overall presentation. The entries were full of fun and very innovative ideas.

‘Swar Ganga’-Patriotic Solo Singing Competition for the Students of Class V – August 2020

 “Those who wish to sing will always find a song”

Love for one’s country should be celebrated, irrespective of the situation we face. Come August, we are all pumped up to rejoice in our freedom and existence. And, like every other celebration, how can this celebration be complete without music. To keep the spirits high of our budding artists, class 5 organized ‘Swar Ganga’, an intra- class patriotic solo singing competition to recognize and encourage the singing skills of our students.

As music is not language bond, students presented their songs both in English and Hindi. Movie songs, instrumental/ background music was allowed. The criteria for judgement was:

  • Tonal pitch/ Voice variation
  • Diction
  • Confidence and Presentation

Students participated in large numbers and participated enthusiastically in the first round. Best six were chosen from each section for the final round. The recordings of the finalists were judged by our eminent judges. The result of the competition is given below.

‘Our Leaders’-Character Portrayal Competition for the Students of Class IV – August 2020

The lives of world leaders from any walk of life- politics, education, industry, social work etc. is a source of learning and inspiration for all of us. To familiarize our students with some famous international personalities, Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar organised ‘Our Leaders’, an intra- class character portrayal competition for students of Class IV. The students had to choose any world leader and deliver her/his famous speech in English or Hindi.

The competition was open to all; however, participation was optional. The criteria for judgement were Delivery & Diction; Vocabulary and impact and Presentation. The competition was judged by Ms. Lini Roy and Ms. Pampa Chatterjee.

The students participated enthusiastically and confidently, dressed up as world leaders like Swami Vivekananda, Sir Martin Luther King and Sushma Swaraj. It was heart-warming to see amazing performances which indeed was a result of hours of practice.

‘Tell-a-Tale’, an intra-class storytelling competition was held in the month of August. The students participated enthusiastically in the competition. The students had to select an Indian folk tale for narration. Appropriate props and costumes were used to make the stories interesting.

‘Fancy Dress’ an intra-class competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of August 2020.  The competition was open to all, however, participation was optional. The theme for the competition was ‘Patriots Speak’.

Students dressed up as different freedom fighters and participated enthusiastically. Two minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. The participants not only spoke confidently but also displayed their creativity by creating their own costumes. The competition showcased excellent communication skills and wide variety of talent.

‘Tip – Tap-Toe’ Competition for the Students of Class I – 24 August 2020

‘Tip- Tap-Toe’, an intra-class solo dance competition was held on 24  August 2020 for class I to appreciate the sense of rhythm, creativity and physical fitness of the students. The theme was the contemporary dance form. Students participated with zest and excitement. The participants dressed up in colourful costumes and swayed to the various beats. They showcased immense talent by not only presenting thrilling performances but also by using their homes very innovatively as their stage. The Judges were pleasantly surprised by the expression and the confidence level of these little contestants. The event was very successful and encouraging as an online endeavour.

‘Sur Sangam’ Solo Singing Competition for the Students of Class I - July 2020

‘Sur Sangam’ an intra-class solo singing competition was held for Class I in the month of July. Students dressed up in colourful costumes for recording their songs. They sang a variety of songs both in Hindi and English. They presented songs from genres including bhajans, ghazals, patriotic songs etc. The students showcased their singing skills with beautiful expressions. Some students used background music to add effect to their singing. The presentations sent by the students were not only entertaining but also gave the feeling that these young Tagoreans cannot be bogged down by lockdown.

Solo Western Dance Competition for the Students of Class II was held in the month July 2020

With the aim of appreciating the physical fitness, sense of rhythm and creativity of the students an intra class solo western dance competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of July 2020. The competition was open for all the students however, participation was optional.

The students participated enthusiastically and confidently presented various dance styles like contemporary, freestyle, break dance, hip hop, locking & popping.  Two and a half minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. The students not only performed various dance forms but confidently used props to creatively present themselves. The competition showcased excellent presentations and variety of talent.

‘Eloquence’ Competition for the Students of Class III - July 2020

Elocution is one of the activities that gives students creative room to express what they feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this is simply unparalleled.

Online elocution competition was held for class 3 on 20th July 2020. The topics provided were-   

  • My favourite cartoon character
  • Happiness is……
  • If I could turn back time

All participants exhibited great oratorical skills, they put in tremendous hard work to showcase their hidden talent. Students participated wholeheartedly with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Heartfelt congratulations to the winners on their hard-earned success. In all the event was a great success.

"Recitare"-An English Poem Recitation Competition for the Students of Class IV was held on 25 July 2020

‘Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.’ 


Poetry Recitation is a mode of expression, a medium that develops communication skills, increases vocabulary and boosts self-confidence. 

To enable our students to develop and hone these skills, Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar organised ‘Recitare’- an intra- class online English poetry recitation competition on 25 July 2020. 

A preliminary round for the competition was conducted on 20 July ‘20 and a total of 17 students were selected for the final round. 

The theme for the poetry recitation was ‘Happiness’.

The students enthusiastically participated in the competition as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. Many students recited the poems composed by themselves. It was heart-warming to see amazing performances which indeed was a result of hours of practice. The colourful props used by the participants made their presentations vibrant and a happy atmosphere was created by their enthusiasm.

The judges appreciated the performances and gave their valuable insights.

What a beautiful day it had been to express happiness through words, actions & beautiful thoughts with all smiles & confidence!

Ad-Mad Competition for the Students of Class V was held on 25 July 2020

Creative expression is the new currency”

Advertisements use very few words, musical impact, taglines etc to sell an idea. Ad-mad competition was organized to provide platform to showcase the language, communication skills, salesmanship and sense of humour of our budding artists.

The Google meet was buzzing with great zeal and excitement on Saturday, 25th July 2020 for the online Intraclass competition for Class 5. The event was attended by students, teachers, judges from team Awaam-  Saburi Chopra and Shayan Basu.

The competition was conducted in two rounds. First, the preliminary round was on 20th April, where in the students sent pre-recorded video of an advertisement of the categories given-

  • Fashion
  • Toiletries
  • Mobile phones
  • Food

Students participated in large numbers and participated enthusiastically in the first round. Best six were chosen from each section for the final round.

The final round was held on 25th July,2020. It was overwhelming to see the participants adapt to the online method easily. They faced the camera with confidence, understood the instructions given by the teacher and followed them, presented themselves with the same zest and enthusiasm that they would in a classroom or school auditorium.

The criteria for the judgement were – Content of the advertisement, clarity in highlighting the product with minimum efforts, originality and creativity, humour and overall presentation. The judges gave their valuable inputs to the students, Saburi Chopra and Shayan Basu shared their experience of theatre and performances as primary students.  Shruti Sharma, the Headmistress took the opportunity to thank the students, parents, judges and the teachers for their time and effort.

The combined efforts of the students and the teachers was evident as the online intraclass competition was a huge success.

An intra class instrumental music competition was organized for the students of classes VI-VIII. They had to submit their entry, playing either guitar or synthesizer and capture it in a video. Intra Class “Little Artists’ Competition for class I was held on 18 May 2020 to encourage the creative skills of the students. It was open to all the students and they were asked to draw on any one of the given themes:

           (i) Happiness

           (ii) This beautiful world

           (iii) My spacecraft

The students participated with great enthusiasm and they presented their thoughts on the given topics beautifully. It was very interesting to see how the students used the mediums like pencil colours and crayons very innovatively to create different effects on their sheets. Their prompt responses proved that distance learning was not at all a barrier.

‘Show and Tell’ an Intra Class Competition was organized for the students of class II in the month of May 2020. The topic on which the students were to speak was ‘My favourite healthy food’. Students enthusiastically participated in the large numbers. Two minute videos were recorded and sent to the teachers. They not only spoke confidently on the given topic but also prepared props to creatively present themselves. They spoke about eating healthy food and even shared recipes about making healthy dishes. The competition showcased excellent presentations and variety of talent.

Twisted Tales -  A virtual intra-class storytelling competition was organized for class VII on 02 May 2020
A unique, virtual intra-class storytelling competition ‘Twisted Tales’ was organized on 02 May 2020 for the students of class VII. The competition entailed retelling age-old fairy tales, but customized and given a twist to fit into the present scenario. The characters and initial details of the original stories remained the same; the latter halves were imaginative and innovative. The participants presented stories like Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and Seven Dwarfs etc with such imagination and creativity that it left the judges and the audience enthralled. The stories with characters from these fairy tales taking on roles of modern-day doctors fighting the Corona Virus pandemic seemed extremely convincing. The law enforcers and other Covid-19 warriors came alive through the expression and conviction with which the stories were presented. The competition was a novel one, being conducted for the first time on a digital platform, but the enthusiasm and zest with which the participants participated was the same as it is always with Tagoreans.

Just A Minute -  A virtual intra-class competition was organized for class VIII on 02 May 2020

The first-ever virtual intra-class competition J-A-M (Just a Minute) was organised for the students of class VIII on 2 May 2020, notwithstanding the lockdown. It provided a platform for the students to showcase their talent and expertise in an impromptu speech. The participants had to speak on a given topic for a minute, without hesitation, repetition or deviation.  What made the competition even more challenging was that the topic was given to each participant just 2 minutes before the commencement of their speech, in which time they had to assimilate their ideas. This encouraged students to think on their feet.

The panel of judges included ex-students Sandeep Farooq and V. Chaitanya, and Prarthana of class XII. The virtual audiences were the parents and the teachers teaching class VIII. Ms Nidhi Sood Ma’am was the timekeeper for the event. All the fifteen contestants were eloquent and displayed the presence of mind and their command over the language, within the span of one minute. The topics were as varied as ‘The earth healing during the Lockdown’, ‘A sense of humour ...an essential life skill’,‘Failing is a blessing in disguise, ‘Should tablets replace books in our school bags’ and ‘Something I have learnt during the lockdown.’

The Principal, Ms Nikita Tomar Ma’am expressed her appreciation for the courage and confidence each participant displayed. She also had a word of praise for the parents who motivated their wards to participate in such events. She advised the students to be more conversant in the language by making English their medium of everyday communication and also to work on correct pronunciation.

Online English Elocution Competition was conducted for class IV on 01 May 2020

“As Human Beings we do change grow, adapt, perhaps even learn and become wiser”

The Google meet was buzzing with great zeal and excitement on Friday, 1st May 2020 for the first online Intra-class competition for Class 4. The event was attended by students, teachers, judges Ms Rima Pant ,  Ms. Madhu Pathania and also Arsh Mishra, President of the quiz  club  and an active member of the debate club of the school.

The competition was conducted in two rounds. First, the preliminary round was on 27th April, wherein the students sent pre-recorded video of the given topics. The topics given were:

 1. If you could have one super power, what would it be.

2. I am happy when….

3. Let me tell you about my imaginary friend

4. My favourite thing about going to school

Students participated enthusiastically in the first round. Best six were chosen from each section for the final round.

The final round was held on Friday, 1st May 2020. It was overwhelming to see the participants adapt to the online method very easily. They faced the camera with confidence, understood the instructions given by the teacher and presented themselves with the same zest and enthusiasm that they would in a classroom or school auditorium.

The criteria for the judgement were Quality of content; Delivery; Diction; Vocabulary and impact and Time limit. The judges gave their valuable inputs to the students, Arsh Mishra shared his experience of public speaking as a student.

The combined efforts of the students and the teachers was evident as the first online intra-class competition was a huge success.

Online English Elocution Competition was conducted for class V on 30 April 2020

In a first of its kind attempt an ‘Online English Elocution Competition’ for Class V was conducted on Thursday, 30 April 2020. The event was conducted to promote spoken English skills like pronunciation, delivery and voice modulation.

A preliminary round of the event was conducted on 27 April 2020 to shortlist the finalists. This round received an astounding response from the students.

The online event was organised on Google Meet and was judged by a panel of three: Senior English teachers Ms.Ronita, Ms.Neetu Khanna and School Debate Club student representative Master Syed Sameed Anwar.

The participants had to speak on any one of the following topics:

  • A much-needed invention.
  • Does advertising influence our choice of food?
  • If I was born a 100 years ago, I would be…
  • The planet I would visit if I had my own space ship.

Each contestant was given two minutes and twenty seconds to speak on the topic. The students spoke with confidence and performed exceptionally well considering today’s unique circumstances. Their performance and enthusiasm were well appreciated by the judges, teachers and the audience alike. The competition accorded encouragement and confidence to the performers and to all the students present as audience.

The winners were judged on the quality of content, delivery, diction, vocabulary and impact of the speech.

The confidence, expression and talent of the students made the online event truly memorable.
