It was a marvellous movie!! Even though it was silent and black and white, it taught me so many values like sacrifice, hard work and never giving up. It made a deep impression on my mind as it showed so many values in the form of a hilarious movie. It told me the meaning of trying again and again. It gave me the inspiration of facing all the problems that life throws on us. It was a wonderful movie screening and the choice of movie was also brilliant. I look forward to more such sessions with Spic Macay. - Nivriti Rathi 6 ‘C |

Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj was an Indian classical vocalist belonging to the Mewati gharana. He will be remembered for taking the art beyond the boundaries. He was born in a family of amazing musicians .Pandit Jasraj was initiated into music by his father. As a mentor , guru Pandit Jasraj already presented to the world, an impressive no. of disciples whom he has trained and nurtured. Pandit Jasraj soulful voice made him one of the most famous performers in the Indian classical music industry. He recieved many awards including Padma Vibhushan ,Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree. His death is a great loss for the nation and the music industry. When I attended the SPIC MACAY’s tribute concert for the Sangeet Martand Pt. Jasraj named RASRAJ SMARAN, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Many artists like singers , musicians and dancers such as Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Dr. L Subramaniam, Begum Parveen Sultana, Vid Sonal Mansingh, Vid Sudha Raghunathan and many more offered their homage to Pt Jasraj through music , dance and their words. I enjoyed their spectacular and wonderful performances and had a very great experience listening to it. -Aadya kamath |

Dr. Madan Gopal Singh- a Sufi artist gave an interactive musical performance in school on 03 November 2015 |
To have every child experience the beauty, inspiration and mysticism of Indian music and art is the aim behind SPIC MACAY. Courtesy of SPIC MACAY, students of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, were lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful morning listening to the melodious strains of Sufi music from the group Chaar Yaar. Led by the acclaimed Sufi singer, poet, art historian and theatre personality, Dr Madan Gopal Singh, as the name suggests, the group is a unique one comprising four musicians. Guitarist and banjo player Mr Deepak Castelino, sarod player Shri Pritam Ghoshal and percussionist Shri Amjad Khan comprise the other members of this unique group, showing us all over again that music transcends all religious boundaries. Harmony was in fact the overriding theme of the morning’s experience, leaving students with the beautiful words of Bulleh Shah, Rumi, John Lennon, Tagore and Kabir (among others) to inspire them. The amazing blend of rich melodies was deeply enjoyed by all. |
