School successfully organised FIT INDIA SCHOOL WEEK from 07 -13 December 2020

The ‘Fit India Movement’ aims to encourage students to inculcate physical activities and sports in their everyday lives and daily routines. This movement endeavors to alter the behaviour of students from ‘Passive Screen Time’ to ‘Active Field Time’ and to develop Sports Quotient among them to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

The school celebrated the ‘Fit India School Week’ from 07 Dec to 13 Dec 2020 with a theme ‘Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz’. A number of activities were organized for the students on a daily basis that ranged from free hand exercises, fun and fitness Aerobic dance form, rope-skipping, hopscotch, zig-zag shuttle-run to brain-game competitions like chess. Common yoga protocols and virtual challenges like that of squatting, step-in challenge, spot-jogging, were also organized for the students. The week-long celebrations also included essay and poem writing competitions on the theme ‘Fitness beats Pandemic’. A poster making competition on the theme ‘Hum Fit to India Fit’ was also enjoyed by the participating students.

The ‘Fit India School Week’ organized in the school was a successful movement that instilled the understanding of the significance of regular physical activity and higher levels of fitness in the students. The idea that fitness enhances not only physical well-being but augments self-esteem and confidence took root and made the week a complete success.

FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN from 15 August to 02 October 2020

CBSE in association with Fit India conducted FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN from 15 August to 02 October 2020. This event was organised to encourage fitness and help students to gain freedom from obesity, stress and diseases. 153 students from our school participated in the FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN.

National Sports Day was celebrated  with the students across all classes on 28 August 2020
National Sports Day, 29th August is celebrated in various countries to honour the national sports teams and sports traditions. On this day people from different age groups take part in sports like kabaddi, marathon, basketball, hockey etc.  The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August, on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. This day marks the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player who won gold medals in the Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. 
 The National Sports Day was celebrated like never before this year with the students of different classes competing with each other in a quiz organised on 28 August 2020. All the classes, after listening to the speech on the importance of this day to our country, enjoyed themselves while learning a great deal by participating in the quiz.
The students not only showed great competitive spirit and gave innovative names to their teams but also designed certificates to cheer for the winners among themselves in the Intra-Class quiz. 

 
 
 
     
 
 
Cardio Workout at home using a stick for the students of classes VI-X
Many children are feeling restless cooped up indoors during the lockdown, and parents are struggling to keep them engaged, safe and healthy. There is a simple option to mitigate this problem — exercise. Exercise is very important for everyone, especially for students. Students can develop their fitness level with the help of exercises.
So, we introduced some in-house  exercises which students can do at home to keep themselves fit. Cardio Workout using a stick has been shared with the students of classes VI-XII. It does not require any special equipment but a simple, easily available stick. Students can increase the intensity of the workout with the number of repetitions or sets. 
Some good benefits of the cardio workout for 3 days a week are as follows:
1. Cardio workout helps to reduce weight
2. Cardio workout also helps to Strengthen the immune system
3. It decreases risk of heart disease
4. With cardio exercise, the heart gets stronger and pumps more blood with each beat.
5. Cardio or aerobics exercise also help to  increase your confidence, emotional stability, memory, and brain function.

Pre-workout Warm-Up sequences for entire body for the students of classes VI-X

The importance of warm–up exercises should be considered by anybody who works out. A good warm-up will raise the body temperature, which is particularly helpful to the body muscles. As the muscle temperature increases, oxygen becomes more available to the muscles, allowing them to contract and relax more easily. It improves muscle elasticity and allows for efficient cooling, meaning less chance of accidentally hurting oneself or overheating during the workout and ruining the entire day. It also increases one's flexibility and mentally prepares oneself for a good exercise session.

Aerobics for Students of classes III-V

Aerobics is an activity that gets your blood pumping and large muscle groups working. It keeps weight in check and strengthens muscles. It is one of the best ways to build stronger bones. Aerobics exercises can make children stronger. It helps in improving one’s academic performance, as a fit body can help you develop a fit mind. Last but not the least, aerobics is safe for most, including kids and is also fun.

Chair based exercises for the students of classes I-X

Chair based exercises are a good choice to workout at home during this Covid-19 pandemic as it doesn't require any special equipment but a Chair or stool. These exercises have many of the same benefits as other forms of physical activity. These activities have the added benefit of being low-impact and gentle on the joints.This makes physical activity possible for people who may struggle with weight bearing activities.Chair based exercises also helps in improvement of flexibility,strength and coordination. These exercises reduce the risk of falls because chair based exercises improve posture and balance. It also helps to increase confidence and self esteem.

Jumping exercises for the students of classes I-II

Jumping exercises are another form of cardio exercises. These jumping exercises are specially designed for smaller students, i.e. for classes I & II. These exercises help to increase strength and muscle tone, and build both upper and lower body strength. Jumping exercises help to burn more calories. These jumping exercises can be done anywhere, watching TV or playing around in the home. Jumping exercises, on a regular basis, improve cardiovascular fitness. In Fact, jumping is one of the very best exercises to keep your heart healthy.

International  Yoga Day celebrated on 21 June 2020

Members of Tagorean Awareness Society celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great zeal, following the World Yoga Day theme for the year, 2020,  which was 'Yoga At Home and Yoga with Family'. Our students from classes VI to X recorded their short video clips by explaining the benefits of yoga.       

The pre-recorded short video was streamed live on YouTube wherein members of TAS explained the importance of yoga in our lives and how yoga makes us feel proud as it is now being celebrated internationally since its inception in the year 2015. The students also explained the importance and benefits of yoga amid the current corona pandemic. The response from the students, their parents and other viewers has been very positive and encouraging.
