Second edition of Disha organised on 19 October 2019

Students of  Special Olympics Bharat school team organized the second edition of Disha,a fundraising Diwali Mela at Nehru Park, New Rajendra Nagar-12 on 19 October 2019.

The team reached the venue at 8:30 in the morning to help set up the fair and  were  ready by 11 am to open  the fair for  public. Our game stalls included 4 varieties of games and were a major attraction to not only the kids but the adults as well. The ongoing music in the background at all times set the vibe right. Our food stalls included a variety of food items and drinks including chocolate cupcakes, bread pakodas, apple juice and lemonade. There came a time when we were at our peak visitors.  The crowd was enthralled by the music played by the young musicians of Tis. The school band and the standup comedian were greatly appreciated by everyone. Our sports coach from Special Olympics Bharat made the unified game 'bocce' a major attraction to all the public. We raised money by selling paintings made by our students .

Our Special Olympics team, athletes, teachers and the residents helped us make Disha 2.0 a great hit. We look forward to doing more such events and socialising with our special friends.

Workshop was organised for the sports coaches of different schools under Special Olympics Bharat (Delhi) on 31 July 2019
First session was conducted by Ms. Pooja Bakshi, School Counsellor, on the basic understanding of intellectually disability and other disorders in school going children. This was followed by a session held on physical training and coaching of children with special needs for different sports which was conducted by Mr. Praveen Chaudhary HOD Sports at TIS.

On 12 July 2019, 30 students of our school of classes VIII and IX  got the opportunity to interact and  know more about Special Olympics Bharat (SOB). The fortunate students were overjoyed to know that they would be able to spend time with the intellectually disabled students. They spent their day by playing games and conversing with intellectually disabled students. The students of Tagore International School had a great time in the Youth Activation Programme.

School bagged the 'Distinction Award' by Special Olympics for the year 2018-19

School proudly and humbly received the award by Special Olympics  for achieving National Standards of a Unified Champion School for the year 2018-19.

DISHA- an event organised by students of Team Saksham ,TIS,VV & SOB at Inderpuri on 09 December 2018
Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar along with Special Olympics Delhi organized an unified event on Sunday 9 December 2018 in C park, Inderpuri.
The event comprised  of friendly competitions and games such as the painting competition for which the topic was "Inclusion" and prizes were given to best paintings. Power lifting was also a part of the event in which the children were supposed to lifts weights. "Bochi" a unified game was played and people enthusiastically participated in it.
The people from the neighbourhood area energetically became a part of the event and enjoyed it. There was also an art exhibition and the money received by selling those paintings was given to "Special Olympics Delhi" to empower the lives of the intellectually disabled.
Together, Tagore International School's team "Saksham" and Special Olympics Delhi organization look forward to organizing many more such events and create awareness to as many people possible and gather support to work towards the cause.

Ms. Uma Chopra was invited to the parent and sibling workshop organized in Singapore by Special Olympics on 29 and 30 September 2018.The workshop consisted of people  from the Asia-Pacific region and it was all about encouraging and including the people having intellectual disabilities in the society.
The workshop was fun and interactive with parents and siblings of the athletes and the youth leaders .

Preparatory Camp for Unified Football at World Summer Games 2019

Mr. Parveen Kumar, HoD (Physical Education Deptt.) attended a Preparatory Camp at Rajasthan from 19 June -24 June 2018 as a coach for Unified Football  for World Summer Games 2019 at Abu Dhabi ,UAE.


An interactive session was organised under Special Olympics Bharat on 17 May 2018

At the outset and as a way of encouragement, Team Saksham organised a unified sports event on 17th May 2018, where the school's football team played a match with the special guest students. This was followed by High-tea, for which the snacks were prepared by the students themselves. The programme culminated with a musical event. The students not only enjoyed this mutual enriching interaction, but reiterated their belief that Inculsion works.


First  Preparatory Camp at Bhopal from 05 March-10 March 2018 

Mr.Parveen Kumar ,HoD(Physical Education) & student ,Mathew Malsawmsanga attended the first preparatory camp for World Games 2019 .They attended the camp as probable coach and athlete respectively.
